| Description | The Haptic Intelligence Scale for Adult Blind (HIS; Shurrager, 1961) is a performance scale designed to measure intelligence in blind adults. It was developed based on the Performance Scale for Adult Blind. The HIS consists of six tests: four tests adapted from the WAIS Performance Scale (Digit Symbol, Block Design, Object Assembly, and Object Completion) and two additional tests (Pattern Board and Bead Arithmetic). A seventh test, Plan-of-Search, was administered but excluded from the scale due to its low reliability. The research sample comprised 994 blind adults aged 16-64, selected through quota sampling.
