Abstract
The Coping Mechanisms with the Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Sex Life Measure (Berdychevsky, 2023) is an assessment designed to evaluate the coping strategies individuals employed to manage the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their sex lives. The development of this ad-hoc coping questionnaire involved a thorough literature review, incorporating relevant literature such as the comprehensive sexual motivations scale by Meston et al. (2020). Pretesting of the questionnaire led to paraphrasing and deletion of questions, followed by an expert analysis to ensure content validity. The measure comprises fifty-nine items, organized into nine distinct domains, including pleasure, communication, and goal-setting, all aimed at capturing the perceived usefulness of various coping mechanisms. Validation of the questionnaire was conducted using a sample of adults primarily from the United States and the United Kingdom. An exploratory factor analysis provided evidence supporting the nine-factor structure, with some correlations observed between these factors. Internal consistency results were also reported.

Purpose
This measure was developed to assess the coping strategies that individuals utilized to mitigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and related prevention measures on their sex lives.
Validity
No validity indicated.
Reliability
Internal Consistency: The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for the measure ranged from 0.86 (Educational strategies) to 0.96 (Risk and experimentation strategies/Relational strategies).
Factor Analysis
Exploratory Factor Analysis: An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted using oblique rotation. This analysis identified nine factors extracted from the 59 items, collectively accounting for 74.9% of the total variance.
Instrument: Coping Mechanisms with the Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Sex Life Measure
Test Type: Original
Instrument Type: Inventory/Questionnaire
Construct: Coping Mechanisms; COVID-19 Impact; Sex Life
Format: Participants were asked whether they experienced each coping strategy during the pandemic, which was assessed using 59 nominal, dichotomous (yes/no) variables. They were then requested to rate the degree of usefulness of that strategy on a 5-point Likert scale, where 1 represented “extremely useless” and 5 represented “extremely useful”.
