PurposeThe purpose of this measure is to assess emotion regulation strategies for use in adolescence.
DescriptionThe Adolescents’ Emotion Regulation Strategies Questionnaire–Extended (AERSQ-E; Rådman, Claréus, & Daukantaitė, 2024) is a modified and extended version of the Adolescents’ Emotion Regulation Strategies Questionnaire (AERSQ; Zhou et al., 2020). It assesses emotion regulation (ER) strategies in adolescents to regulate negative affect. It was modified to improve psychometric properties and includes a new ER strategy measure—aggressive outlet, which is particularly relevant for adolescents who self-injure (Daukantaitė et al., 2019). The scale has 23 items and six subscales, validated through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses.
