Management Need Satisfaction Questionnaire

CategoryDetails
DescriptionThe Management Need Satisfaction Questionnaire (Porter, 1961) was developed to assess managers’ perceptions of need satisfaction within their positions. It includes three sections: the main section assesses needs in the categories of Security, Social, Esteem, Autonomy, and Self-Actualization. Respondents rate 18 management position characteristics, with 15 focused on need satisfaction. The ratings are given in response to three questions: how much of the characteristic is currently connected to their management position, how much should be connected, and how important the characteristic is. The scale used for each question ranges from 1 to 7, with low numbers representing low amounts and high numbers representing high amounts. The categories align generally with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, with some exceptions.
