Abstract
The Cyber Dating Violence Instrument for Teens (CyDAV-T; Sánchez-Jiménez et al., 2023), also known as “Escala de Violencia Online en Parejas Adolescentes,” is designed to measure cyber dating violence among adolescents. The initial development involved creating 34 items based on a comprehensive literature review and focus groups with young individuals. These items were conceptually grouped into three dimensions: verbal/emotional, control, and sexual violence. Following expert item analysis, 28 items were retained. Psychometric evaluation was carried out using a sample of high school students in Seville and Córdoba who had been in a romantic relationship within the past year. Items 23, 26, and 27 were removed from both the aggression and victimization scales due to their low representativeness in the sample. Through the application of Item Response Theory, a refined version of the scales was developed, resulting in 19 items for both aggression and victimization. A three-factor latent structure, encompassing verbal/emotional, control, and sexual dimensions, was confirmed for both the aggression and victimization scales. The study also reported findings for internal consistency, criterion validity, and convergent validity.

Purpose
The CyDAV-T was developed to assess cyber dating aggression and victimization among adolescent couples, specifically in relation to aspects of verbal/emotional, control, and sexual violence.
Validity
Convergent/Criterion Validity: Analyses of mean comparisons revealed that individuals involved in all three forms of cyber dating aggression and victimization exhibited higher means for online moral disengagement and on the Non-Consensual Sharing Scale (NCS; Walker et al., 2021). Significant differences were observed in all instances, with the exception of control aggression and sexual victimization, where the values approached statistical significance.
Reliability
Internal Consistency: The coefficients for the aggression and victimization scales, calculated using ω, ranged from .69 to .79 and .72 to .85, respectively.
Factor Analysis
Item Response Theory: The Item Characteristic Curve (ICC) analysis indicated that the probability of a positive response for certain items was very low in some cases, such as items 3 and 5 on the aggression scale (less than .1). The authors decided to eliminate items with a low probability across both scales (aggression and victimization) and, to maintain symmetry, if an item was removed from one scale, its parallel item was also removed from the other.
Confirmatory Factor Analysis: A Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed on the 19-item aggression and victimization scales. The model fit was deemed good for both aggression (χ2(149) = 163.81, CFI = .99, RMSEA = 0.02, CI 0.00-0.03) and victimization (χ2(149) = 227.71, CFI = .98, RMSEA = 0.04, CI 0.03-0.05).
Instrument: Cyber Dating Violence Instrument for Teens (CyDAV-T)
Test Type: Original
Format: Items are rated on a 5-point Likert-type scale ranging from 0 = ‘This has never happened to me’ to 4 = ‘This almost always happens to me’. This scale measures the frequency with which respondents have experienced the behavior over the past year.
