Due to characteristics such as concealment and harm, employees’ unsafe behaviors not only damage their physical and mental health but also cause significant harm to organizations and society. Statistical data shows that 75% of workplace injuries in the United States are caused by unsafe employee behaviors, resulting in economic losses of $132.1 billion, with an average annual loss of $490 per person. In China, human factors account for more than 85% of safety accidents, leading to direct economic losses of 5 billion yuan and indirect losses exceeding 20 billion yuan. Therefore, how to improve the level of employees’ safety behaviors has drawn attention from all sectors of society.

Administration Method and Scoring

A survey was conducted with a total of 700 questionnaires distributed among various companies, specifically 200 for Yongmei Group, 100 for Xuzhou Mining Group, and 400 for Shenhua Ningmei Group. A total of 309 valid questionnaires were returned, yielding an effective response rate of 44.1%. The scoring was based on a Likert 7-point scale, ranging from “strongly disagree” (1) to “strongly agree” (7).

Reliability and Validity

The composite reliability for the two dimensions of safety compliance (安全遵守) and safety participation (安全参与) was reported as 0.96 and 0.95, indicating high reliability.

The study divides employee safety behaviors into two main dimensions:
– 安全遵守 (Safety Compliance)
– 安全参与 (Safety Participation)
