Emotional Intelligence Scale (IPIP-EIS) – Chinese Version

Description

The field of emotional intelligence (EI) research encompasses various theoretical models represented by ability models, mixed models, and trait models. Initially, researchers categorized emotional intelligence theories into two major camps: ability models and mixed models. Later, these theories were further subdivided into ability models, mixed models, and trait models. Ability models assert that emotional intelligence is a non-cognitive ability, mixed models view emotional intelligence as a unity of ability and personality, while trait models consider emotional intelligence a combination of various personality traits. The Emotional Intelligence Scale (IPIP-EIS) was published in 2001, compiled by Barchard, and is included in the International Personality Item Pool (IPIP). This scale is regarded as a trait-oriented assessment tool. The revised Emotional Intelligence Scale (IPIP-EIS) provides a new measurement tool for domestic researchers, with items sourced from the IPIP. Thus, it can serve as both a tool for measuring emotional intelligence and as a measure of personality. The Emotional Intelligence Scale (IPIP-EIS) has descriptive and predictive roles regarding human behavior in real life, and is significant for predicting individuals’ mental health and social adaptability. Furthermore, it can provide guidance for personnel selection in enterprises and mental health surveys in schools, assisting managers in better management.
