The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is a psychological assessment tool used to measure burnout in individuals. It was developed by psychologist Christina Maslach and her colleagues in the early 1980s. The MBI is a 22–item self–report questionnaire that assesses three dimensions of burnout: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. The MBI is widely used in research and clinical settings to measure burnout in individuals, such as healthcare professionals, teachers, and other professionals who work with people. The MBI is a reliable and valid measure of burnout, and it has been used in numerous studies to assess the effects of burnout on job performance, health, and well–being.
