Future Aspirations—Peer Leader Survey

How important is it to you that in the future …
1. You will graduate from high school?
2. You will go to college?
3. You will have a job that pays well?
4. You will stay in good health?
5. You will do community work or volunteer work?
6. You will have good friends you can count on?
 
 
These items measure future and career orientation and aspirations. Respondents are asked to indicate how important it is that they achieve six future goals‚ such as attending college or ha‎ving a well-paying job.

None noted.
 
Middle school students‚ although It could also be used with older elementary students. Not recommended for high school students.
 
Point values are summed for each respondent‚ then divided by the total number of responses. Blank items should not be counted in the number of responses. Higher mean scores (ranging from 1 to 4) indicate stronger aspirations in a variety of education‚ career‚ and social domains. Lower mean scores indicate lower and less diverse future aspirations.
