Description
In the 21st century, innovation has become the core competitiveness of a nation. The Chinese government has long proposed the in-depth implementation of strategies such as “Revitalizing the Country Through Science and Education” and “Strengthening the Nation Through Talent,” accelerating the construction of an innovative nation. The construction of an innovative nation requires innovative talents to take on this role. Schools, as the cradle for talent cultivation, have both the obligation and the capacity to foster students’ creativity and continuously deliver innovative talents with a strong spirit of innovation and creative abilities to society. However, to cultivate students’ innovative spirit and enhance their creativity, it is necessary to first understand their current creative abilities, allowing for the formulation of targeted teaching strategies, thereby achieving a more effective educational outcome. Therefore, the effective identification and evaluation of students’ creativity are prerequisites and foundations for creativity education. Creativity is a unique characteristic of humanity, much like intelligence, present in varying degrees, rather than in absolute terms. Innovation is the primary driving force for development and a strategic support for the construction of a modern economic system. The construction of an innovative nation relies on innovative talents, and creativity is an essential quality of these talents. Creativity encompasses both intellectual and non-intellectual factors, with the latter often referred to as personality factors, which are indispensable psychological guarantees for the development and expression of creativity. Creativity inclination, also called creative personality, refers to the distinctive set of personality traits that promote or ensure the development of creativity and the completion of creative tasks, representing an individual’s positive psychological tendency towards creative activities and is an integral part of creativity. The Williams Creativity Inclination Test (Williams Prefer Measurement Forms) assesses an individual’s creativity inclination by measuring certain personality traits, including risk-taking, curiosity, imagination, and challenge-seeking. Individuals scoring high on these four dimensions demonstrate strong creativity inclinations. This measurement tool was developed by F.E. Williams and revised by Lin Xingtai, Wang Murong, and others.
