This document discusses the development of the Scale of Sexual Permissiveness (SSP) by Luodan, based on the premarital sexual attitudes scale created by Reiss et al. at the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) in the USA.

Purpose

The purpose of the SSP is to measure attitudes toward premarital and extramarital sexual behaviors.

Administration Method and Scoring

All items are scored using a Guttman-type scale, ranging from “强烈反对” (Strongly Disagree) to “强烈赞同” (Strongly Agree), corresponding to scores of 1 to 6. The total score possible is 66 points; a higher score indicates a greater openness to sexual attitudes.

Reliability and Validity

The scale was tested for reliability with a retest conducted one week later on the same sample. A Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.853 was found, indicating good reliability.
