Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-Civilian Version – Chinese Version

Description

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) refers to the intrusive thoughts and memories related to trauma, persistent avoidance of trauma-related stimuli, and an enduring heightened state of alertness, resulting from exposure to traumatic events that exceed the emotional capacity of an average person. It is generally believed that more than 50% of the general population has experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime, though only a portion of these individuals may develop PTSD. A healthy psychological state and a sound personality can help reduce the likelihood of developing PTSD.

Administration Method and Scoring

The assessment tool used is the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C), developed by Weathers et al. in 1993. This scale is one of the most widely used self-assessment tools for PTSD and is based on the criteria for PTSD symptoms as outlined in the fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). The scale consists of 17 items divided into three dimensions: 再体验 (Re-experiencing), 回避 (Avoidance), and 高警觉 (Hyperarousal). Each item is scored on a 1-5 Likert scale: 1 = No reaction, 2 = Mild reaction, 3 = Moderate reaction, 4 = Severe reaction, 5 = Extreme reaction.

Reliability and Validity

Research both domestically and internationally has shown that the PCL-C scale has good reliability and validity, with an internal consistency coefficient (α coefficient) of 0.85 and a test-retest reliability of 0.60.

Factors and Subscales

The three dimensions of the PCL-C scale are:
– 再体验 (Re-experiencing)
– 回避 (Avoidance)
– 高警觉 (Hyperarousal)

Keywords
