Description
Mindfulness in psychology refers to the conscious, non-judgmental awareness of the present moment. It emphasizes an accepting, non-judgmental attitude toward current experiences, including external stimuli, bodily sensations, and internal emotions and thoughts. The observer views their internal experiences or external stimuli, whether they are good or bad, liked or disliked, with an accepting and non-critical attitude, without attempting to change or eliminate them. To date, the therapeutic effects centered around mindfulness have been empirically validated in various aspects. Research has shown that mindfulness-based therapies have effective interventions for stress reduction, pain management, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and sleep issues. Additionally, for non-clinical populations, the role of mindfulness training in regulating emotions and enhancing well-being has also been supported by research.

Administration Method and Scoring
The Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) employs a 1-6 Likert scale for responses. The scoring system is as follows:
1 = almost always,
2 = very frequently,
3 = somewhat frequently,
4 = somewhat infrequently,
5 = very infrequently,
6 = almost never.
After reverse scoring all items, a higher total score indicates a greater level of mindfulness in everyday life.
