CATASTROPHIC REACTION

n. an inability to cope with trauma or shock that results in highly-disorganized behavior. This is characterized by deep feelings of anxiety, inadequacy, and helplessness. It manifests as extremely-emotional behavior such as sudden crying or outbursts of agression and hostility.
