BRUSHFIELD-WYATT SYNDROME

n. a familial disorder which causes mental retardation. The condition is characterized by the presence of a port-wine birthmark, and it is marked by contralateral hemiplegia in relation to the causal lesion. Described by British physician Thomas Brushfield (1858-1937).

BRUSHFIELD-WYATT SYNDROME: “The Brushfield-Wyatt Syndrome is a condition marked by paralysis in the opposite side of the body.”
