n. an inflammatory disorder of the wrist wherein there is pain and swelling in the tissues surrounding the median nerve. Specifically, the ligament on the roof of the tunnel may thicken and broaden, or the tendon and its lining may become inflamed.The condition is caused by physical injury to the area or by activities that result in repetitive stress.
