BENZODIAZEPINE ANTAGONISTS

pl. n. a group of drugs which specifically act to block benzodiazepine activation by binding their CNS receptors. These medications include flurazepam and lorazepam which are known to treat anxiety but can cause sleep problems such as insomnia.

BENZODIAZEPINE ANTAGONISTS: “In emergency care, benzodiazepine antagonists are relied upon to immediately revive patients who are seriously intoxicated or have overdosed on drugs.”
