BODY PERCEPT

n. the mental image that is formed from one’s own physical characteristics and the functionality of these traits as being attractive or unattractive. For instance, there are some cultures which find a well-rounded figure to be more attractive. Also, some people may not be all-too-concerned about their figure yet they may be conscious about their hair – or their skin for that matter. See body image. Compare body concept.

BODY PERCEPT: “Body percept goes beyond the appearance of a physical trait, since it also examines how strong, healthy, and attractive that trait is.”
