BEHAVIORAL COUNSELING

n. a form of intervention in which counseling becomes the key strategy. In clinical care, for instance, patients are assisted in either maintaining current behavior or changing undesirable behavior and adopting a better one. Patients are advised and then guided to change their behavior primarily through operant conditioning and self-management.

BEHAVIORAL COUNSELING: “As part of providing better health care services, hospital staff and health care providers now participate more actively in behavior counseling intervention.”
