AIDS DEMENTIA COMPLEX (ADC)

neuropsychological disorder completely credited to HIV, experienced by most persons with highly-developed AIDS. Characterized by handicap in four regions: (i) cognitive abilities such as memory and the ability to focus, (ii) attitude in conjunction with actions, (iii) motor skills, and (iv) emotional attitude or mood. Cortical atrophy is apparent in the x-rays of the brains of those with the disease
