De Fatigue Severity Scale is ontworpen om medici te ondersteunen bij het herkennen en diagnosticeren van vermoeidheid bij patiënten met multiple sclerose en andere condities, zoals Systemic Lupus Erythmatosis (SLE) en het Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). De vragenlijst bevat negen vragen waarmee de ervaren ernst van de vermoeidheid-symptomen in de afgelopen week in verschillende dagelijkse situaties wordt nagegaan. De patiënt geeft aan in hoeverre de vermoeidheid het functioneren bepaalt.
