De EPUAP decubitusclassificatie wordt gebruikt om de ernst van huid- en weefselbeschadigingen vast te stellen. De classificatie is ingedeeld in 4 categorieën, waarin de mate van weefselbeschadiging van minder (graad 1) tot diepe decubitus (graad 4) wordt beschreven. Deze meting wordt doorgaans gecombineerd met de BRADENschaal, die het risico op decubitus meet (zie BRADENschaal). De uitkomst van de meting bepaalt welke (preventieve) maatregelen genomen worden.
