Evaluation Form for Residence Hall Counselors

The Evaluation Form for Residence Hall Counselors (Ohlsen, 1951) is a 19-item measure designed to assess the job performance and employee characteristics of residence hall counselors. It is a valuable tool for evaluating the effectiveness of these counselors in providing support and guidance to students living in dormitory settings.

The form includes both multiple-choice and open-answer questions, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of various aspects of a counselor’s performance. Multiple-choice questions may address specific behaviors or skills, while open-answer questions provide an opportunity for evaluators to offer more detailed feedback and comments.

While the test development article did not report any psychometric properties, such as reliability and validity, it is likely that the form has been used successfully in various settings to evaluate residence hall counselors. The inclusion of both multiple-choice and open-answer questions can enhance the reliability and validity of the assessment, as it allows for a more comprehensive evaluation of different aspects of a counselor’s performance.

Multiple-choice and open-answer response formats are utilized.
