Abstract
The Escala da Narrabilidade (ENa), or Narrability Scale, was developed by Koltermann & Nunes in 2023 to evaluate narratability within the Brazilian cultural context. Narratability is defined as the capacity to articulate, identify, and communicate significant events from one’s personal history with a sense of continuity and cohesion. The development of this instrument was grounded in the Life Design Model (MLD), as proposed by Savickas et al. (2009), which emphasizes the role of narrative and identity processes in career interventions. The initial item pool was generated through a combination of interviews with psychologists specializing in Professional and Career Guidance (OPC) and a review of international scientific literature, including works by Gergen (2009), Gonçalves et al. (2018), Savickas et al. (2009), and White (2007). In the first stage, an initial set of 55 items was submitted to a panel of judges for content validation, which led to the removal of 19 items. Following this, a semantic analysis was performed with a sample from the general Brazilian population to assess the clarity of the instructions and the 36 remaining items. All 36 items were deemed clear and were retained after this stage. The development study did not report results pertaining to factor analysis or reliability.

Purpose
The primary purpose of this measure is to assess the construct of career narratability specifically within the Brazilian context.
Construct
The instrument is designed to measure Career-Specific Narratability.
Validity
Evidence for the validity of the scale was established through content validation procedures. A panel of seven judges, all of whom hold master’s degrees and/or doctorates in Psychology, conducted an analysis of the constructed items. For the 36 items that were ultimately retained for the final version of the scale, an absolute agreement percentage of 98% was achieved among the expert judges. Additionally, a semantic analysis was conducted with the target population. During this phase, 21 items received minor wording modifications to improve clarity, 15 items were approved without any changes, and no items were eliminated.
Reliability
No data is Available.
Factor Analysis
No data is Available.
Instrument
Test Type: This is an original instrument.
Format: The instrument is an inventory/questionnaire composed of 36 items.
Language Available: The scale is available in Portuguese.
Population Group: The measure is intended for use with human populations, including both males and females.
Age Group: It is designed for adults aged 18 years and older, encompassing young adulthood (18-29 years), the thirties (30-39 years), and middle age (40-64 years). The sample used for development had an age range of 22 to 58 years.
Population Details: The instrument was developed and validated for use with people from the general population in Brazil.
Test Methodology: The development methodology focused on test validity, specifically through rigorous content validity procedures. This involved expert judge analysis for item relevance and clarity, followed by a semantic analysis with the target population to ensure comprehensibility. Administration is conducted through an interview format.
