| Description | The Crichton Geriatric Rating Scale (CRICHT; Robinson, 1964) was developed to assess the level of behavioral functioning in elderly psychiatric patients, as part of a geriatric treatment program. The CRICHT consists of 11 items rated on a 5-point scale (1 = normality; 5 = complete failure of function). It was designed for pre-treatment and post-treatment administrations. A total score of 10-20 indicates mild deterioration; a score of 21-30 indicates moderate deterioration; and a score above 31 indicates severe deterioration. The items assess level of functioning across the following domains: mobility (e.g. “fully ambulant”); orientation (e.g., “oriented in ward and identifies persons correctly”); communication (e.g., “always clear and retains information”); co-operation; restlessness; dressing; feeding; continence; sleep; and mood (objective and subjective). |
