| Description | The Adolescent Autonomy Questionnaire–Modified Version (Maxey et al., 2024) was developed to measure adolescent behavioral and emotional autonomy in participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Scale content was based on an adaptation of the original Adolescent Autonomy Questionnaire (AAQ; Noom et al., 2001) designed for typically developing youth. The resulting 7-item modified version was evaluated in a sample of neurotypical adolescents and IDD adolescents. Factor analysis and reliability results were reported for these items. |

| Format | Items are rated on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (not at all descriptive of me) to 5 (very descriptive of me). Scores are summed within subscales and then averaged across subscales to create an autonomy score for emotional and behavioral autonomy, respectively. |

For Emotional autonomy, two items were removed, with the resulting adolescents with IDD model showing a good fit to the data (AIC was 1465.717 and BIC was 1493.449). |
