Description
Narcissistic leadership has been defined based on narcissistic personality traits by Rosenthal and Pittinsky (2006). Narcissistic leaders possess an exaggerated leadership style, crave power and admiration, and often show a lack of concern and empathy for subordinates and the organization. At the same time, they are often highly charismatic and visionary. Subsequently, Campbell et al. (2011) provided a more detailed explanation of narcissistic leadership, explaining that it comprises three parts: First, there is a positive self-image characterized by self-aggrandizement and arrogance, with the belief that they are unique and constantly seeking attention and praise from others. Second, such leaders possess a low level of empathy, showing a penchant for exploiting and manipulating others for their benefit.
