Description
The concept of self-compassion (SC) was proposed by Neff in 2003, with an interpretation of its structure. Neff defines self-compassion as having empathy for the suffering of oneself and others, expressing a desire to alleviate this suffering, and being able to accept and embrace oneself unconditionally. He emphasizes recognizing that setbacks and mistakes are unpredictable and unavoidable parts of life.
