Description
Sub-health status is a new concept in international medicine, referring to a state where the human body is between health and disease. Individuals in a sub-health state cannot meet health standards, showing symptoms such as reduced vitality and decreased functions and adaptability over a certain period, but do not meet the clinical or subclinical diagnostic criteria for disease according to modern medicine. Sub-health can be divided into three aspects: physical sub-health, psychological sub-health, and social sub-health. This state is constantly evolving; if handled properly, it can transition to health, while neglect can lead to various diseases. Currently, most experts advocate that effective methods for preventing and treating sub-health are self-regulation. Properly assessing oneself, maintaining a good mindset, and having pleasant and stable emotions are essential to successfully overcome sub-health. Therefore, it is important to reasonably arrange work, study, and life, achieve a balance of work and rest, and manage stress through active social support and coping strategies. Healthy lifestyle choices are effective and feasible for recovering health and controlling the onset of sub-health.

Administration Method and Scoring
The Sub-health Self-rating Scale (SRSHS) consists of 30 questions divided into physical, psychological, and social function factors. Respondents evaluate their personal feelings over the past month on a scale of “None,” “Mild,” “Moderate,” “Severe,” and “Very Severe.” The higher the score, the worse the health condition. The selected participants have no physical illnesses or mental disorders and meet the population distribution of sub-health.

The scale has good reliability and validity.
