Description
Self-concept refers to the multidimensional cognition and evaluation of the individual regarding themselves and their relationship with the environment, formed and developed during the socialization process. It reflects the individual’s level of self-awareness (Ling Hui et al., 2016). The development of self-concept will span a person’s entire life, and establishing a clear understanding of oneself is also an important topic for personal growth (Adam et al., 2018; Slotter & Walsh, 2017). Research on self-concept clarity began in early studies on self-esteem, which showed that individuals with different levels of self-esteem exhibit varying degrees of self-concept clarity and certainty. Compared to individuals with low self-esteem, those with high self-esteem demonstrate a clearer and more certain self-concept (Campbell, 1990).
