Purpose

The purpose of the research is to examine the impact of parent-child relationships on adolescent behaviors, specifically focusing on the context of internet gaming addiction and the mediating role of self-esteem.

Test Year

2015

Administration Method and Scoring

The parent-child relationship questionnaire used by Stattin and Kerr consists of 16 items, with 8 items each for father-child and mother-child relationships, such as “Do you feel disappointed with your father/mother?”. The questionnaire employs a three-point Likert scale: 1 indicates “never,” 2 indicates “sometimes,” and 3 indicates “often.” The average scores for father-child and mother-child relationships are then calculated, with higher scores indicating better relationships.

Reliability and Validity

In the study by Zhang Tingdan, the internal consistency α coefficients for the father-child and mother-child relationship questionnaires were both 0.72.

The Parent-Child Relationship Scale (PCRS) includes factors associated with assessments of relationships with both parents.
