Activities of Daily Living – Chinese Version

Description

The Activities of Daily Living (ADL) scale is used to assess the daily living abilities of research subjects, consisting of 14 items. Each item is rated on a scale from 1 to 4, where 1 indicates the ability to complete the task independently, 2 indicates some difficulties but can still perform the task, 3 indicates the need for assistance to complete the task, and 4 indicates an inability to complete the task. A higher total score reflects poorer daily living ability.

Administration Method and Scoring

The scale consists of 14 items, each scored from 1 to 4:
– 1: 自己完全可以做 (Can do it independently)
– 2: 有些困难，但可以做 (Can do it with some difficulties)
– 3: 需要别人帮助才能做 (Needs help from others to do it)
– 4: 根本无法做 (Cannot do it at all)

Reliability and Validity

The ADL scale has good reliability and validity among the elderly population. In the study by Zhang Dan, the Cronbach’s alpha was 0.930.
