De Voice Handicap Index is een meetinstrument dat wordt toegepast voor het kwantificeren van de psychosociale consequenties van stemstoornissen door het invullen van een vragenlijst door de cliënt. De VHI is opgesteld aan de hand van beweringen die heel vaak door stempatienten worden gemaakt. De vragen richten zich naar functionele beperkingen, fysische beperkingen en naar de emotionele bevindingen van het stemprobleem door de cliënt.1
