American psychologist. White received his doctorate in psychology at Harvard University, working alongside Henry A. Murray, a renowned character researcher. He was added to the staff at Harvard and stayed there for the duration of his career, eventually chairing the Department of Social Relations. White is most widely recognized for the holistic study of the personality.
