BULBAR PARALYSIS

n. an upper-body motor condition which originates from a lesion in the medulla oblongata. The condition may also be caused by neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis. It is characterized by paralysis in the muscles of the larynx, pharynx, mouth, lips, and tongue. Also called progressive bulbar palsy.

BULBAR PARALYSIS: “Because bulbar paralysis causes an upper-body motor weakness, there would be resulting difficulting in speaking, chewing, and swallowing.”
