n. an upper-body motor condition which originates from a lesion in the medulla oblongata. The condition may also be caused by neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis. It is characterized by paralysis in the muscles of the larynx, pharynx, mouth, lips, and tongue. Also called progressive bulbar palsy.
