BREAST-PHANTOM PHENOMENON

n. a phenomenon in which there is an illusion that the amputated breast still exists. This is felt as a painful, tingling sensation in the area of the missing breast. Considering body memory, it is probable that representation in the brain still remains intact and stimulus continues to activate a response. See phantom limb- also body memory.
