AUTOPHONIC RESPONSE

refers to the echolike reproduction and vibration of one’s own voice in the ear, commonly referred to as hearing one own voice. This issue is usually attributable to disease within the middle ear or auditory canal in which the Eustachian tube remains open. Also known as autophonia.

AUTOPHONIC RESPONSE: “A person noting an autophonic response would likely report hearing an echo of his or her own voice in the ear immediately after speaking.”
