ATROPHY 1

n. refers to the wasting away of a part of the body, as a result of lack of nourishment, inactivity, degenerative disease, or normal aging processes. See also cerebral atrophy. 2. also describes general degeneration from disuse.

ATROPHY 1: “A person experiencing muscle atrophy had less muscle mass than before, as a result of inactivity and lack of nourishment.”
