Fortunately this is easy to do using the Go To Special tool in Excel and the following step-by-step example shows how to do so.
Step 1: Enter the Data
First, let’s enter values for the following dataset in Excel:
Step 2: Select All Blank Cells
Next, highlight the cell range A1:B13 and then click the Find & Select icon in the Editing group of the Home tab, then click Go To Special from the dropdown menu:
In the new window that appears, click the button next to Blanks, then click OK:
Once you click OK, all of the blank values in the range will be selected:
Step 3: Fill in All Blank Cells
With all of the blank cells still selected, type “=” and then type the up arrow on your keyboard.
Then click Ctrl + Enter at the same time.
Notice that all blank cells in the Team and Player columns have been filled in with the appropriate value of the cells above them.
