How can I use the GESTEP function in Google Sheets to determine if a number is greater than or equal to a certain threshold?

How can I use the GESTEP function in Google Sheets to determine if a number is greater than or equal to a certain threshold?

The GESTEP function in Google Sheets is a useful tool for determining whether a given number is greater than or equal to a certain threshold. This function takes two inputs – the number to be evaluated and the threshold value – and returns a 1 if the number is greater than or equal to the threshold, and a 0 if it is not. This allows users to quickly and easily identify numbers that meet a specific criteria, such as being above a certain threshold. By utilizing the GESTEP function, users can efficiently sort and analyze data in their Google Sheets spreadsheet.

GESTEP function

The GESTEP function returns 1 if the rate is strictly greater than or equal to the provided step value, or 0 otherwise. If no step value is provided, then the default value of 0 is used.

Parts of a GESTEP function

GESTEP(value,[step])

PartDescriptionNotes
valueThe value to test against the step number.
stepThe value to be tested against. It’s 0 if the argument is left blank. [OPTIONAL]

Sample formulas

GESTEP(5, 2)
GESTEP(2)
GESTEP(-0.00001)
GESTEP(-6, -1)

Notes

If either value or step is non-numeric, GESTEP returns #VALUE!

Examples
