Google Sheets is a powerful tool that provides users with the ability to perform various mathematical calculations, including finding the square root and cube root of a number. To calculate the square root or cube root in Google Sheets, the user can use the built-in functions, such as “SQRT” for finding the square root and “CBRT” for finding the cube root. These functions require the input of the number for which the root needs to be calculated. Google Sheets then performs the calculation and displays the result in the desired cell. Calculate Square Root & Cube Root in Google Sheets
You can use the following formula to calculate the square root of a value in Google Sheets:
=SQRT(A1)
And you can use the following formula to calculate the cube root of a value in Google Sheets:
=A1^(1/3)

Example 1: Calculate Square Root in Google Sheets

Note that we typed the following formula into cell B2:
=SQRT(A2)We then copy and paste this formula down to every cell in column B.
Example 2: Calculate Cube Root in Google Sheets

Example 3: Calculate Nth Root in Google Sheets
We can use the following generic formula to calculate the nth root of a value in Google Sheets:
=A2^(1/n)
For example, we could use the following formula to calculate the fourth root of a value:
=A2^(1/4)

Note that we typed the following formula into cell B2:
=A2^(1/4)
We then copy and paste this formula down to every cell in column B.
