Arctic Interest Form

Arctic Interest Form

CategoryDetails
DescriptionThe Arctic Interest Form, developed by Wright, Sisler, and Chylinski in 1963, assesses interest in jobs, travel, sports, and community life in northern regions. The scale was created as part of a study examining personality characteristics associated with successful adaptation to isolated northern environments and the potential role of psychological tests in selecting personnel for such assignments. This 14-item measure includes items focusing on attitudes toward and interest in the Arctic (7 items), sports and travel (5 items), and past community size (2 items). Sample items include “Is the north an area which you have always wanted to visit?” and “Do you like winter sports?” The development article does not provide psychometric information for this scale.
