| Description | The Adult Reading History Questionnaire–Finnish Short Version (Khanolainen et al., 2024) is an adapted, brief version of the original ARHQ (Lefly & Pennington, 2000), which consists of 23 items covering childhood reading-related difficulties, school achievement, current reading and spelling habits, and short-term memory. Following factor and item response theory analyses, 5 items were retained. Data were collected from independent Finnish and Dutch samples, with results concerning reliability and validity reported. |

| Validity | Test Validity: The correlations between the brief and full versions were high across three samples (.80–.88). These correlations were then compared to reading assessment scores in two Finnish samples. |

| Factor Analysis | Exploratory Factor Analysis: A 6-factor model showed the best fit (comparative fit index = 0.95, standardized root mean square residual = 0.03, root mean square error of approximation = 0.06, χ2[130] = 299.65, p < .001). Four items (1, 7, 12, and 19) did not load >0.4 and were excluded. Item response theory analysis revealed 12 items that failed to discriminate clearly, and were dropped. Two additional items were removed due to redundancy, resulting in the final 5-item measure. |
