Description
Different scholars have different definitions of the view of life. A relatively representative definition is provided by Schwartz, who defines the view of life as an individual’s value judgment regarding the existence of life itself. This judgment is a recognition of the meaning of life, both for oneself and for other life forms outside oneself, under certain social and historical conditions. This definition has gained broad acceptance among many scholars. Steger interprets the value view of life as an individual’s sense of meaning in existence and perception of one’s own significance. In China, definitions of the view of life tend to fall into two directions: one considers it as a consciousness or attitude, a way humans relate to living entities in nature, and a kind of worldview that includes humans’ attitudes towards their own lives; the other sees it as a gradually formed and continuously evolving process. Although numerous studies have been conducted by scholars both domestically and internationally regarding the view of life, there is no consensus on what aspects specifically comprise the view of life among college students. In summary, the view of life can be defined as an individual’s cognitive recognition of the importance and meaning of their own existence, which evolves continuously as individuals interact with people and things in social activities and serves as a deep value system that guides and regulates their life activities.
