Description
The research findings of American psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston in the 1920s form the basis for the DISC personality assessment. Dr. Marston identified four personality factors: D, I, S, and C. The percentage of these four factors varies in each individual; the factor with the highest percentage will predominantly influence that person’s characteristics. When these factors combine in different ways within a person, they create a unique personality. Individuals with similar action styles often display similar behavior in comparable situations or under stress. By observing and understanding various personality styles, one can recognize and predict the behavior of similar individuals in handling situations. A balanced team must include members exhibiting the four personality styles represented by D, I, S, and C, which denote Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness, respectively. Research indicates that everyone possesses some traits of these four styles, although the strength of each varies among individuals. Generally, individuals are likely to exhibit one or two primary styles that significantly influence their personality characteristics.
