Multiple Affect Adjective Check List

Multiple Affect Adjective Check List

CategoryDetails
DescriptionThe Multiple Affect Adjective Check List (Zuckerman et al., 1964) measures day-to-day changes in anxiety, depression, and hostility. The anxiety scale was derived from a previous 21-item measure of immediate or daily anxiety levels. The depression scale was created by selecting items that significantly differentiated depressed individuals from normal subjects and adhered to specific criteria regarding frequency and reading level. The hostility scale was constructed based on responses to a hostility induction procedure. The scales were validated through experimental manipulation of stressors, showing significant changes in scores due to stress, with reliability demonstrated by high split-half correlations.
