VISUAL FIELD SPARING

the degree to which normal vision is kept intact in a visually handicapped or deprived portion of a visual field, exhibited in degrees of visual angle gauged from the fovea. Foveal sparing means that the foveal area is spared; macular sparing references the maintaining of the macular area; macular splitting designates sparing spanning from one to five degrees.
