a structural or operational irregularity within a person elicited by genetic aspects or a climate-related impact, like exposure to drugs or X-rays while inutero. Instances of these defects is inclusive of Down syndrome, correlated with irregular or odd inherited aspects; and the thalidomide syndrome, marked by malformed limbs, elicited by thalidomide taken by the mother while the child was inutero.
