PELIZAEUS-MERZBACHER DISEASE

an uncommon, progressive degenerative disorder of the CNS characterized by non-deliberate, swift eye motions, muscular incoordination, and spasticity. It is generated by a mutation within the gene which manages the generation of a particular myelin protein. Severity and onset differ greatly, reliant upon the kind of mutation, and range from the slight, adult-onset, spastic paraplegia kind, to the intense kind with onset during infancy and death in formative childhood years.
