NOMINAL GROUP TECHNIQUE (NGT)

is a method of group problem solving which aims to remove the pressures of majority influence by getting participants to first propose their ideas privately before then discussing the then anonymous ideas amongst the group, with the intent on reaching a majority or consensus decision before then proceeding.

NOMINAL GROUP TECHNIQUE (NGT): “Using the nominal group technique participants place their ideas on a piece of card anonymously, which removes any majority or minority influence effects at the time of suggestion.”
